Piano Movers in Phoenix | AZ Valley Movers

Uprights, grands, and heavy specialty pieces moved by our own crew with the right rig, every time

Treat a piano like a chest of drawers and someone gets hurt while the instrument gets ruined. A spinet might tip the scale near 300 pounds; a concert grand sails past a thousand, with the mass hung in a way that wrecks anyone who lifts it casually. That’s why we keep a separate specialty crew on it, run by Hector Salazar, who’s handled pianos for us going on years. The job calls for piano boards, skid boards, deep padding, and real strapping, not a pair of guys and crossed fingers.

With a grand, the body comes down to a padded skid board on its side after the legs and the lyre come off, then the whole thing is wrapped and lashed before it budges. An upright gets boarded, padded, and walked with the technique that holds the weight in check across stairs and through narrow doorways. Floors and finish stay covered the entire route.

Across the Valley these calls often pull in more than the piano. We move the gun safes and other dead-weight specialty pieces that ride alongside the instrument in the larger estates of Paradise Valley and the gated stretches of north Scottsdale. A 700-pound safe coming out of a Fountain Hills study draws the same boards, plate, and crew count as the baby grand in the living room. We tape out the doorways and the turns, plot the route before anyone bends a knee, and bring exactly the crew the weight demands.

“Booked them for our two-bed off 44th Street in Arcadia. The quote held and the guys were polite, but they showed up about an hour past the window and nobody called ahead. Once the crew chief got there he owned it, knocked a little off the bill, and they hustled. Would use again, just wish dispatch had given me a heads-up.”

“Moved our three-bed near the McCormick Ranch side of Scottsdale and these guys earned the five stars. Crew rolled in at 6am to beat the heat, wrapped every dresser, and the flat number Renata emailed me was exactly what I paid. Gabe actually came by during the walkthrough to check the load.”

Service FAQ

Do you take grands, or only uprights?

Both. Spinets, uprights, baby grands, and full concert grands all land with the specialty crew. A grand comes partly apart and rides on its edge atop a quilted skid board, the only sound way to handle one.

Can you get one up or down a staircase?

Yes. Stairs are precisely why this work needs the right crew and rig. Piano boards and proper technique keep the weight under control, and we tape the route out first so nothing catches us off guard halfway through the lift.

Do you also move gun safes and other dead-weight pieces?

We do. A loaded gun safe carries the same risk profile as a grand, so it earns the same boards, plate, and crew count. We see them constantly in the Paradise Valley and Scottsdale estates, often on the same job as the piano itself.

Will the move throw off the tuning?

Any relocation, even a shove across the room, can tug a piano slightly out of tune, and the bone-dry desert air nudges it too. We move it so nothing breaks, but give it a couple of weeks to acclimate in the new room before booking a tuner.

Can you bring a piano into a high-rise condo?

Regularly, around Downtown and Old Town Scottsdale. We book the freight elevator with the building, issue any required certificate of insurance early, and chart the path from the dock up to the unit.
